John R. Morgan Elected Chair of the
Raleigh, North Carolina — Greensboro resident and Salisbury native John Robert Morgan, CPA, JD, has been elected 2008–09 Chair of the North Carolina Association of CPAs (NCACPA), the only statewide organization for CPAs.
Morgan is a sole practitioner, working primarily in areas of estate planning, probate, and business planning. He was licensed as an attorney at law in 1973 and obtained his CPA certificate in 1984.
Prior to being elected Chair of NCACPA, Morgan served on the Board of Directors from 2000–2003 and Executive Committee from 2002–2003; and acted as Treasurer from 2005–007 and Chair-Elect from 2007–2008. He is also an active member of NCACPA’s Professional Development Committee. Morgan has been an instructor for NCACPA seminars in the areas of personal financial planning, retirement planning, business planning, and estate planning. He received the Outstanding Speaker Award in 1996, 2001, and 2002.
In addition to his twenty-four years of membership with NCACPA, Morgan is a member with the North Carolina Bar Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the North Carolina Bar Association’s Tax Council and is Treasurer of the Greensboro Bar Association. He has led courses in various areas of estate planning law and tax law for the Bar Association and acts as a mentor to first-year law students at Elon University School of Law.
