Want Something Different For Lunch or Dinner?

Recently, I stopped by the Red Pepper which is a Chinese takeout restaurant near the "4 corners" in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina. Conveniently located for those in Sneads Ferry as well as those going to or from North Topsail Beach, this is a place to remember while staying at the beach.

Like many Chinese takeouts, Red Pepper offers a wide array of dishes to fit most everyone in the family. Unlike many restaurants along the beach, this is one where the prices are very reasonable. Add to that the quality service and friendly staff and you quickly realize they are grateful for your business. I have personally had the pleasure of eating their food for quite some time now and recommend them regularly.

If you have had enough burgers and want a great change of pace or not in the mood for higher priced seafood, Red Pepper is the perfect stop to feed you hunger. Do remember though, that calling in advance to place your order can be the smart move as they do get very busy during lunch and dinner rushes.

Dixon Soccer Club Elections Friday, May 15th and Saturday, May 16th

It's time to get out and vote for the leadership of the Dixon Soccer Club (DSC) which is the recreation youth soccer league for this region. As a member of the NC Youth Soccer Association, the Dixon Soccer Club has provided the opportunity for many of the Sneads Ferry, Holly Ridge and surrounding areas youth to play competitive soccer.

Any program such as this requires much from its leadership and now is the time for those who have taken advantage of the DSC services to make it known who you want to lead the club for the upcoming year.

Voting will be held between 6 pm and 7pm on Friday, May 15, 2009 by the Dixon Middle School for those teams in the Wilmington, NC tournament this weekend.
The elections will be held on time, 1:PM - 3:PM inside the DIXON MIDDLE SCHOOL gym lobby this Saturday May 16th for all others.

Please show your support and vote for whomever you deem the best to lead our children in the world's "beautiful game" of soccer.

Band Concert at Dixon Brought Out Principal Iron Man

Last night the Dixon Middle Concert and Jazz Bands performed for a full house in the school Gymnasium to the delight of all who attended. Starting with the 6th grade Concert Band, Gary E. Alsup conducted a notable series of music that even included songs to honor America's history as well as some boogie.

When the 7th grade Concert Band took center stage, the crowd was thrilled with the solos as well as the overall talent of the entire group. There was even a series saluting our military attendees. Standing ovations were the norm for much of the evening as this talented group of kids showed off the hard work they have put in throughout the year.

Then the Jazz Band took to the stage and played a series ranging from Carl Strommen through Evil Ways made popular by Carlos Santana. During this very entertaining period, the Jazz Band began an intro into the song "Iron Man" which brought out Principal James Strope dressed as Iron Man dancing to the rhythms before "flying off" out of the gym.

Congratulations to all who put on this fantastic evening of musical entertainment and kudos to the Dixon bands who have put in so much time and effort to make it all possible.

Spring Craft Fair and Car Show - May 2, 2009 - Downtown Jacksonville NC

The Coastal Carolina Artists & Crafters Guild along with the Onslow Shriners held a day of fun and food for the community to enjoy while showcasing locally crafted works of art and a car show. Held at the Riverwalk Crossing Park in downtown Jacksonville, the one day Spring Craft Fair was free to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 2nd.

This was a great time to see, learn about and purchase lots of quality handcrafted works of art and good food while supporting the Onslow Shrine Club in their fund raising efforts; and for the car enthusiasts a chance to see and vote for their favorite car in the People’s Choice Award.
