Onslow County Museum announces grand opening of 5th Annual Fun and Games – Children’s Discovery Gallery…

(Onslow County)  Onslow County Museum is pleased to announce the grand opening of the 5^th Annual Fun and Games Children’s Discovery Gallery.  Featured in the changing gallery each June through October – Fun and Games provides a hands-on interactive experience for children from toddler and up.  The grand opening celebration will take place on Saturday, June 5, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  This is a family FREE day and admission to the Museum galleries is waived. 

This year, the Fun and Games Discovery Gallery will feature (4) stations including: Play Space; Science Lab; Time Travel; and Artist Studio.  Throughout the exhibit, the Museum will be offering a special family summer fun pass for $15.00 per household.  This entitles the holder to unlimited visits to the Museum gallery from June to October.  Regular admission is $2.00 for adults; $1.00 for youth 3 and up.

Police have identified man who approached school-age children about his "lost puppy" but, are not going to release his identity unless criminal charges are filed. Man is no longer in Southeastern North Carolina.

Law enforcement authorities are searching for a man that may have been trying to abduct children in Hampstead and possibly in other parts of both Pender and New Hanover Counties. This man may be wearing a ball cap, mid 40s with mustache and stained teeth.

The Onslow County Parks & Recreation Department and Mike’s Tree Farm are sponsoring a Pumpkin Painting Party. Fun for all ages, a Haunted Trail Ride $5 Adults and $3 Kids, Frightfully Fun Games, Costume Contest Saturday 7pm open to all ages, a Pumpkin Junction for the youngsters with Moonwalks, Games and a Train Ride! Halloween Costume Contest & Matinee Movie

Onslow County Parks & Recreation Dept. and Carmike Cinema 16 are sponsoring a Halloween Costume Contest & Matinee Movie. The event is being held Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Carmike Cinema 16, behind the Jacksonville Mall, starting at 9:00 a.m. The cost for this year’s event is three canned goods per person (which will be donated to Onslow County Christmas Cheer).
