Lift Tilts at Jail Construction Site

(Onslow County) At approximately 9:45 a.m. this morning, an accident occurred at the Onslow County Jail Construction site.  Apparently, a lift tilted over and an unidentified employee was stranded in a lift basket approximately 55 ft. off the ground.  The City of Jacksonville Fire Department and other emergency personnel responded quickly and began rescue operations.  At this time, the condition of the employee is unknown, but he was responsive during the extraction from the lift basket.  He was transported by emergency personnel to the local hospital.

County Manager Jeff Hudson said “We are thankful to the City of Jacksonville for their quick response”.  He also remarked on the measures taken on site to ensure that employees are aware of all safety rules and regulations.

For more information, contact County Administration at (910) 347-4717.  Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
